Due to its ideal position on the Croatian Adriatic, Vir is the perfect place for excursions. For nature lovers there are several national parks nearby:

Kornati National Park covers a multidue of small islands in the Croatian part of the Adriatic in Central Dalmatia.

Only 1/4 of the park consists of land, while the rest consists of diverse marine ecosystems.

The vertical cliffs of the "crown" of the Kornati islands facing the open sea are the most popular phenomenon of this park. The park is also a habitat of rare species.

During the tourist season (July, August), all ships usually drive trips to the national park every day.

Krka National Park is a spacious, predominantly unchanged area of exceptional and multiple natural values, and includes several unaltered altered ecosystems. Its purpose is primarily scientific, cultural, educational and recreational, and for tourists there are additional tourist activities. With seven sedrenic waterfalls with a total fall of 224 m, the sloping waterfalls of the Krka River are the fundamental phenomenon of this nationalpark.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is a particular geological and hydrogeological karst phenomenon. It covers a large are which includes 16 lakes of different sizes. Special geographic position and specific climatic features contributed to the emergence of many natural phenomena and rich biological diversity. Sediments have been shaped from Pleistocene to today in the cramps and valleys between the surrounding mountains.

Paklenica National Park is the most visited climbing site in Croatia, and the largest in Southeast Europe. The close proximity of seawater gives this climbing site a special charm, making Paklenica Riviera an ideal place to combine climbing and water sports. Today, there are over 360 equipped and improved routes of various difficulty levels and lengths within Paklenica’s climbing sites, so each climber can find to their liking. The main climbing season begins in spring and goes on until late autumn.
